BELLPORT-BROOKHAVEN: THEN AND NOW
On August 4, 2007, the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society Museum will hold an opening night gala for this summer’s exhibition, Bellport-Brookhaven: Then and Now. This exhibit is drawn from the collections of Dr. J. Kmetz, the Paige Family, the Williams Family, The Spanierman Gallery of New York, The Post-Morrow Foundation, and other prominent collectors, and from the Society’s own Museum.
Bellport-Brookhaven: Then and Now presents a portrait through landscape paintings and photographs of these communities as they were over a hundred years ago. Paintings by William Glackens, Walter Granville-Smith, Frederick Kost, Walter Clark, Alfred Thompson Bricher, and Felix Darley, as well as photographs from vintage postcards by Frances Toms and others will be compared to the same views in the present day. The pictures will be displayed in the Society’s exciting new space, the west wing of historic 12 Bell Street. This is the first exhibit to be held in this partially renovated wing. Two of the paintings will be available for purchase.
THE BELLPORT-BROOKHAVEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM
The Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the rich history, heritage, and beauty of our Long Island communities. Funds raised at the opening night gala, our major fund raising event, will go to support the museum and to the renovation of 12 Bell Street. Your generous support in the past has been critical to the success of the Society.
